At the heart of the mystery is the sinister, looming presence of the Kowloon Walled City slum, and the terrifying mass nightmares which are boiling out of it with ever-greater intensity. Framed as terrorists, Duncan and the player are forced into the shadows, becoming Shadowrunners themselves to shake the attention of the HKPD-and whoever's pulling their strings-and to unravel the mystery of exactly what went wrong. Raymond is nowhere to be found, however, and when meeting with a group of Shadowrunners at the place where a meeting was expected, the Hong Kong Police Department opens fire, killing two of the runners and Duncan's partner. Doing so, they are reunited with their "brother" from their street days, Duncan Wu, who has since cleaned up and joined Lone Star. Raymond is in urgent trouble, and begs them to come to Hong Kong. I think I'l cross post in a new topic folder and see if anyone has reliable figures on this.In 2056, a former street rat in Seattle gets a call from their long-separated foster father, Raymond Black.

Unfortunately, nothing I have seen so far quantifies this dodge effect more precisely. We would see the end result as a high dodge character being attacked less often, but still not know the exact mechanics behind this.

With enough dodge, the enemy AI, when it calculates it's hit probability, may decide to attack a target that's much easier to hit, rather than go for a low probability attack on your guy with many dodge ranks. I have a feeling that each rank of dodge lowers enemy hit probability by a certain amount, let's say 5%. For example, there is a totem (I forget the name offhand) that lowers the enemy hit probability on the Shaman by 10 or 15%. Right, that's what the skill description says but I'd like to find some way to quantify this. If you have higher dodge than someone else, the AI will target him more than it targets you." "as I've understood it the benefit of dodge isn't that it makes you harder to hit, it's that it lowers the enemy's threat towards you. As far as cyber, Dermal cross sheaths are very nice extra armor and regeneration, AND it doesn't take up a body slot. If you can scrape up 6 spare karma, get 3 ranks of spirit summoning and grab one of the totems I'd suggest either Leopard or Bear. For example, on the Artifact collection run, there is a matrix connection way off to the North of the basement excavations, where you can deck in to grab some paydata. Since you will be a decker, grab all the paydata Matrix runs you can. Some tricks you can use include selling all the paydata to Maximum Law all at once at the end instead of in driblets that way you sell it all instead of having him get shut down after a few sales. You will need to be frugal and budget strictly. Grab one of these puppies and you won't be using that whip at all.Ĭyber gear costs money, and yes cash may be a problem initially. There's also a top of the line sniper rifle that needs ranged 8 skill (I forget the name right now, I just remember that Duncan couldn't use it since he tops out at ranged 7). I'm loking ahead to the extended campaign, when weapons like the Ares Alpha and the Ares HVAR, both of which have smartlink versions, become available.

Taking Reflex Trigger instead of Wired Reflexes for Essence cost, and since i have acces to Haste for increased AP.įorget pistol specialization entirely. I can now kick my cyberware affinity up to 6 to maximize my essence pool. This loses chain shot, but in past games double tapwas usually more than enough. This in turn will let me kick Ranged Combat and intelligence up to 8 and let me get access to a spirit totem as well.Īlso dropping the pistol spec down to 6.
QI FOCUS SHADOWRUN HONG KONG WIKI PLUS
The plus 1 from the brainware kicks me up to where I still have access to the maxed version of Mark Target. I pulled decking back to 5 since it doesn't add anything but deck access. I dropped dodge back to 3 since the leg bioware adds dodge and will get me back up to five which sounds like it will be more than enough. Haven't calculated the NuYen cost as of yet, but I did take Essence loss into account. I'm figuring I'm mostly going to be running with Gobbet and Racter, and then either Gaichu or Duncan to round everything out.Įdit: updated to take into consideration some suggestions and added my ideal cyberware and equipment setup. I think my math is good for the Karma points, but I also remember bering annoyed by how starved I was for NuYen in this one. Was looking for some help to see how feasible this comes across, and what I might need to tweak to make it easier to run. Finally getting around to finishing this and I'm looking at the Karama I can get to do my typical build.
